100 Days Until Christmas!
Today marks 100 days until Christmas! What better day to start our new blog! After a year that has been... um, “different,” to put it mildly... the thought of Christmas brings a feeling of hope, comfort and, honestly, accomplishment to look forward to. For many reasons, we should all feel quite accomplished already. We have overcome some of the most challenging days of our lifetime! Of course, we’re still in September so we’ve got a little way to go. BUT!! Accomplishment is still a big feeling that we all have the right to feel and be proud of ourselves for overcoming all the challenges that have come our way thus far. So, bravo and congratulations to us all! Yay! As summer comes to an end, school is back in session, and the ‘back to normal schedule’ is slowly finding its way back into our lives. For many, this is another “new year” marker in the year that coincides with the start of the fall school semester and, let’s face it, the end of our STAYcation/work-at-home overload. Now starts the Zoom School/work-at-home combo—you know, the more serious version of the familiar “same ole, same ole.” It’s actually refreshing to get back to the familiarity of a schedule that we know. There’s a comfort to it, right? We know what to expect (after months and months of dealing with the unknown), we know what needs to be done (after months and months of not knowing what to do), and we also know that the holiday season will soon be upon us, and that’s exciting! It’s an amazing time of the year! Don’t worry, I haven’t forgotten that this year is different than other years. It’s very hard to not recognize that. It’s just that, with all the negative things that this year has brought our way, I’m excited to focus on the positives, and I’m challenged to figure out how to make the most out of this wonderful and exciting season of celebrations and traditions in brand new ways. 2020 is giving us the opportunity to create new norms, create new traditions, and just get creative in general. I really appreciate that. When does life force us into creativity? As an artist, I love the thought of this. But, for many, this can be a daunting thought. Well, my friends, I’m here to help! And I look forward to the platform of this new blog to help share ideas and communicate things that might be fun new things to try this season.
